CNN announced its plan Wednesday to host a full-fledged town hall event featuring former FBI Director James Comey next month; sitting down with the anti-Trump bureau chief as he promotes his upcoming memoir, “A Higher Loyalty.”
The event is scheduled for April 25, and is being advertised as a “one-hour primetime Town Hall, moderated by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, will be live from Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall at Comey’s alma mater, William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and will be co-hosted by the Student Assembly at William & Mary.”
“Following the release of Comey’s book, A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies & Leadership, Cooper will moderate a conversation between Comey and a live audience as they discuss his FBI career, his public firing and the high profile cases he oversaw including the bureau’s handling of the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation and potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russia,” adds CNN’s press release.
Comey’s relationship with President Trump was thrust into the national spotlight last year after the former FBI chief was fired over his mishandling of the Clinton email investigation.
The former bureau chief routinely attacks the President on social media, recently saying “Mr. President, the American people will hear my story very soon. And they can judge for themselves who is honorable and who is not.”
