REPORT: Seattle Mussels Test Positive for OPIOIDS

posted by Hannity Staff - 5.25.18

The west coast of the United States -and other communities across the country- continue to struggle with the devastating impact of opioid addiction, with the problem so bad the region’s mussel population is now testing positive for the substance.

According to CBS News, scientists from the Washington Department of Fishing and Wildlife are claiming that local varieties of mussels now contain traces of opioids as the drug’s “flow downstream” is starting to impact aquatic life.

“Since mussels are ‘filter feeders,’ they absorb contaminants from their environment into their tissues in a concentrated way.  Scientists used cages to transplant clean mussels from an aquaculture source on Whidbey Island to 18 urbanized locations around Puget Sound. Several months later, they pulled those previously uncontaminated mussels back out of the urban waters and, together with the Puget Sound Institute, tested them again,” writes CBS.

The mussels tested positive in three of the 18 locations.

The President vowed to crackdown on the nation’s escalating crisis of addiction earlier this year, vowing to increase penalties for drug dealers and smugglers.

“If we don’t get tougher on drug dealers, we are wasting our time … and that toughness includes the death penalty,” Trump said.

BREAKING: Russia BANNED from 2018 Olympics for Drug Abuse

posted by Hannity Staff - 4.06.17

The International Olympic Committee officially banned Russian athletes from competing in the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea on Tuesday, citing months-long concerns over allegations of “doping” and the widespread practice of lying about their female competitors’ age.

The IOC has said that specific athletes who comply with rigorous drug testing and screening will be allowed to compete as an “Olympic Athlete from Russia (OAR)” but will not be permitted to use their national flag or anthem.

In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin is widely expected to boycott the 2018 Winter Games entirely, saying that it would be “humiliating” for Russia’s athletes to compete on the international stage without their national symbols.

The IOC also issued a lifetime ban for Russia’s Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko and his Deputy Minister Yuri Nagornykh for violations that occured in 2014; neither of whom will be permitted to take part in all future Olympic games.

CALIFORNIA CHAOS: Los Angeles Eyes LEGAL Drug Lounges

posted by Hannity Staff - 4.20.18

The nation’s second-largest metropolis is poised to issue permits for legal “pot lounges” in the coming weeks; paving the way for Amsterdam-style coffee shops across Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the City of Angels is prepared to join San Francisco and Oakland in allowing the European-inspired shops; permitting patrons to purchase and smoke marijuana in a “social setting.”

“Since California voters legalized cannabis in 2016, some cities have embraced marijuana dispensaries, while others have actively fought against pot sales. The state is home to the largest legal pot market in the country, and proponents see lounges as the next step in embracing pot sales and creating avenues for safe use,” writes the Times.

“Consumption lounges are important because marijuana has been legalized, but where can people go to safely consume?” asked a pro-pot business manager from West Hollywood.

The moves comes as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called for the decriminalization of marijuana nationwide; allowing states to decide whether to permit the drug or not.
