Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi defied reason again this week, doubling-down on her previous comments that increased wages and big bonuses were mere “pathetic crumbs” to American workers following the GOP tax cuts.
The House Minority Leader was speaking with a panel on the US economy when she -again- blasted large corporations for dishing out year-end bonuses and higher wages following the passage of the Republican tax bill.
“Here’s the thing… There’s a cartoon that I just love. There’s a little mouse trap who’s got a little piece of cheese on there, and there’s a mouse about to take it and that’s called the middle class,” Pelosi told the audience.
“A measly little crumb, and around it are fat cats, they look a lot like elephants but anyway, around there. And that’s the thing. Get this little thing and we get this big bonanza. You get the crumb, we get the banquet,” she added.
Pelosi made similar comments weeks ago, dismissing large bonuses and higher wages as “pathetic crumbs” to “put the schmooze” on the American people.
